After a weekend off, the Knoxville Boys and Girls of Summer travel to Albia for two South Central Conference games. The baseball boys, while not mathematically eliminated from the conference title chase, need to win out and get some help. The Coaching staff is not thinking about that so much as they are trying to manage a young pitching staff. Head Coach Turner Devore tells KNIA/KRLS Sports freshmen pitchers Roston McCart and Briar Kingery hopes to get some starts during conference games this week.

Devore: “We want to see what he can do conference wise and that’s what he’ll have to do next year, and Briar the same thing, we want to see what they can do. Sometimes we won’t go into a game with our best arms, but we’ll have to make the plays in the field and give ourselves a chance late.”

Softball is currently leading the South Central Conference with an 8-2 record following Cardinal’s setback against Albia last week. Coach Chris Peden says they only can control what they can control and that is win out, which includes finishing a game against Centerville the Panthers are currently trailing. Along with Albia, the Panthers also will play Clarke and Chariton this week with just the Centerville game to finish on July 8th.
