The Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad went 0-2 at its own Coal Miners Classic on Saturday. The Saints lost to West Central Valley in game one 9-7. West Central Valley took a 6-0 lead in the 1st inning, but Melcher-Dallas would chip away at the lead, getting to within one run twice. Gabby Overgaard contributed to the comeback by hitting another home run while Kesley Reed went 2/3 with an RBI. In game two HLV, the Saints had a brief lead before giving up a ten spot in the 3rd inning to trail 11-4 and Melcher-Dallas was too far behind to catch up ultimately falling 12-7. Reed added two more hits for a 4/6 day and three total RBI. Jenna Mickey went 3/3 and drove two in. Lotty Nolte took the loss in both games. Melcher-Dallas is off until Tuesday when the Saints host Orient-Macksburg.
