A big performance by Pella’s right fielder and straight gas from their pitching staff gave the Dutch the season baseball sweep over Pella Christian with a 5-2 win Monday, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Lake Cowman continued his strong hitting performances at home, cranking out a team-best 3rd home run of the season and adding two more runs batted in to give the Dutch pitching staff all the cushion they needed. Teagan Hoekstra, Isaiah Kettler, and Hayes Lautenbach combined for 15 strikeouts on the mound. Hoekstra is excited about the potential the team has considering their ability to find Ks, and that they need to shore up their hitting to make a big run in the final weeks of the season.

Tysen DeVries and Caleb Van Arendonk each had two hits for the Eagles in the effort, as P.C. stranded nine baserunners — six of whom were in scoring position.

Pella’s baseball team improves to 19-7 overall and 13-4 in the conference and host No. 1 in 3A North Polk this evening. The Eagles fall to 12-17 overall and 3-12 in the league and are off until they head to Norwalk for a doubleheader on Wednesday. Hear game two on 92.1 KRLS.
