After spending the last nine seasons and a COVID year as the Pella Christian girls head soccer coach, Mike Buchheit has announced that he is resigning from the position.

Buchheit said in a statement that he wanted to feel good about handing off the program in a great place. Buchheit also said that he loved his time leading the Eagles girls soccer team and appreciated all of the athletes, parents, administrators, and supporters involved in the program.

Buchheit coached 158 games for Pella Christian from 2015-2024, and saw several records broken during his tenure. During his time, the Eagles set the school records for most wins in a season (15 in 2007), most goals in a season (84 in 2023), most assists in a season (50 in 2023), and least goals allowed in a season (17).

Buchheit will remain on Eagle Lane, continuing to lead the Pella Christian boys and girls cross country programs this fall.
