The Pella Aquatic Center received an “Exceeds” score on their most recent audit conducted last week. The center receives a regular unannounced inspection by Jeff Ellis & Associates, an International Aquatic Safety and Risk Management Consulting firm. The process includes the audit without the knowledge of lifeguards, who are judged on their skills. Those staff members are asked to conduct live action drills — and lifeguards evaluated received an Exceeds score. The Pella Aquatic Center has received that high mark several times in the past five years. Pella Community Services Director Jeanette Vaughan says the depth of their staff this summer has allowed for more normal, and even some expanded hours at the pool.
