One of the traditional and most popular themes of Thursdays in Pella will return this week.

Ag in the City is set to return on Thursday, and the event will feature several returning favorites, including farm implements and machinery, local FFA students hosting animals and other displays, and the Red Rock Threshers. Marion County Farm Bureau Outreach Coordinator Jill De Bruin says that they are happy to be able to help organize the event alongside the PACE Alliance.

“It’s just been a wonderful experience putting together all the fun things that families can come and do. We love to promote agriculture and agriculture education, so we will have food vendors, we will have ag businesses coming in with things for people to do and see, and we will have activities that people can do, crafts for the kids, and it should be a great night.”

Additionally, the Little Miss Firecracker and Mister America contest will be held on the Tulip Toren at 6 pm, followed by the chicken pageant at 6:30. Also featured in the Tulip Toren entertainment Thursday will be the Trick Roper at 7 and the city band wrapping up the event at 8.

The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio is broadcasting from every Thursdays in Pella this summer. Hear more about Ag in the City on today’s In Touch with South Central Iowa.
