The Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Emergency Department renovation project continues to see progress.
The renovation is currently in the second phase of the $21 million expansion project for the hospital. The first phase was completed in February with the opening of the Don & Margaret Long Infusion Center and Weiler Foundation Specialty Clinics. The emergency department expansion and renovation will include construction of a new waiting/reception area, two trauma bays, three private treatment rooms, two mental health rooms, workspace for staff, and additional storage for equipment and supplies. The ER project will be done in phases, and the first started in March and is expected to be completed by mid-July. Knoxville Hospital and Clinics CEO Kevin Kincaid said he is happy with the progress of the overall renovation project, and he is looking forward to the updates within the hospital.
“That puts us at a pretty new modern facility meeting the needs of the folks we take care of. We are making sure we have enough exam rooms for everyone to be seen in, they’re comfortable, they’re comfortable for friends and family, and making sure safety and privacy is built into our projects moving forward. We couldn’t be happier with how this is all unfolding for us.”
Kincaid is hopeful that the first phase of the project will be completed before RAGBRAI comes to Knoxville on July 24th. Hear more about the project from Kincaid on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
