It was two shutouts on Panther Drive over Clarke on Thursday night as the baseball squad sent everyone home early in the 5th inning with a 10-0 win, while softball in a must win situation to keep conference title hopes alive blanked the Indians 6-0. The baseball game was heard live on 95.3 KNIA from the 1st inning. Luke Roozeboom held the big bat of the night as he went 2/2, three RBI and three runs scored. Regan Roberts was the other Panther with multiple hits as he went 2/3 with two RBI. After getting only four runners on base Wednesday night and mustering just one hit, Coach Turner Devore said this was a better showing of his team’s offense.

Devore: “Falling behind early with this team is tough. We can’t just wait for that three run homer like last year. We got off to a shaky start in the first inning, but managed to get out of it and put up a crooked number in our innings”

Kyler Gifford earned the five inning win striking out four and allowing just two two hits. On the other side of Panther Drive, the softball squad rolled over Clarke 6-0 on Thursday. With the win, the Panthers stayed alive for a South central Conference title as they improved to 9-3 in the conference with two games to go, tonight at Chariton and July 8th against Centerville. If Knoxville can win both games then the Panthers will finish no worse than a tie for the conference title. Tonight’s game can be heard live on 95.3 KNIA at 6:45.
