The Pleasantville baseball team defeated Interstate 35 at home Thursday night on Strike Out Cancer night, as the softball team fell in West Central Conference matchups.

The games were a way to honor all of those who are battling cancer and who are survivors as they were honored on the field for the National Anthem. There were also root beer floats at the game where proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society along with all other proceeds. The Trojan baseball team won their contest 8-4 as Easton Cox was the winning pitcher and Brody Adreon picked up the three inning save. JJ Phillips and Brayden Kennedy both had two hits on the night while Cox had two RBI. After the win the Pleasantville baseball team improves to 18-10 overall.

The Trojan softball team fell to the #10 ranked roadrunners 14-4 in six innings. Eighth grader Ryleigh Hardman got her first varsity start on the mound for the Trojans. Offensively the Trojans had two hits from Ella Clark and Kyleigh McConnell while Danika Park had two RBI. After the loss the Pleasantville baseball team falls to 16-11 on the season. 

The Pleasantville baseball and softball teams will both be back in action on Monday as the baseball team takes on Grinnell and the softball team will battle North Mahaska.
