It was a disjointed week for both sides of Panther Drive as a combination of rainouts and open dates made for an unusual week. The Knoxville Softball Squad was scheduled to play at Chariton on Friday, but heavy rains during the morning washed out any chance to play. The Panthers are still in line for a South Central Conference title, but must win out over Chariton, which is now rescheduled for Wednesday, and the resumption of the Centerville game on July 8th. For the baseball squad, the Panthers saw their game against Fairfield rained out on Friday and are not in action again until Tuesday when they host PCM. Both squads also know their postseason roads as baseball has drawn the 6th seed in the class 3A substate and will travel to Winterset on July 12th. Coach Turner Devore tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, the draw could have been worse and is hopeful his team can make some noise.

Devore: “I think we are the luckiest team to be in that district. There are some substates that the 7th seed is five games over 500, and we have a 4 and a 5 that are five games below 500, so we are very lucky.”

Knoxville softball will host Oskaloosa on July 11th in the class 4A regional opener with the winner traveling to Carlisle on July 13th. Listen to Knoxville Sports this summer and check the Live Radio Sports Guide on kniakrls.com for our broadcast schedule.
