The Norwalk baseball and softball teams learned their postseason destinations last week when the tournament brackets were released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

The Warrior baseball team is the number-four seed in Class 4A, Substate 6 and will play a first round game at third-seeded Ottumwa on Friday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m. In other first round games, top-seeded Linn-Mar will host Cedar Rapids Jefferson and No. 2 seed Waukee Northwest will take on Des Moines Lincoln.

The substate tournament will continue on July 15 and 17, with the champion advancing to the 4A State Baseball Tournament at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids.

The Norwalk softball team, currently ranked third in Class 4A, is the top seed in Region 6 and will receive a first-round bye on Thursday, July 11. The Warriors will host Newton or Ballard in a regional semifinal on Saturday, July 13, at 7:00 p.m. The opposite half of the bracket includes 11th-ranked Bondurant-Farrar, Pella and South Tama.

If the Warriors win their semifinal game, they will host the regional final on Tuesday, July 16, at 7:00 p.m. Norwalk is seeking its third consecutive trip to the State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge.
