Multiple rounds of heavy rain locally caused flash flooding in several communities Tuesday.

The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air from 2:55 to 5:15 p.m. for three severe thunderstorm warnings in Marion and Warren Counties. While those threats largely didn’t cause damage, the heavy rain the came with those storms dumped 2-3″ of rain in an about an hour after many of those same locations received 1-3″ in the morning.

Flash flooding stalled several cars and filled several intersections for the better part of the 4:00 p.m. hour in Pella, and flooding was also reported in Pleasantville and Indianola. Live coverage included multiple Weatherology meteorologists and a live interview with Pella Police Captain Paul Haase about flooding and temporary road closures in the Tulip City.

The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on the air for any severe thunderstorm and tornado warning in Marion and Warren Counties. Additional chances for rain are looming on the 4th of July, but widespread heavy rainfall is not expected.

Here are photos from several listeners of flooding in and around Pella. Four to five inches of precipitation has fallen…
