During the heat of summer, residents are reminded to take extra care of their pets.

It is recommended to provide extra shade and water to any outdoor pets, and to keep them indoors, if possible. Keeping fur short and limiting exercise during the day are also good ways to protect dogs from oppressive heat, and making sure that if the pets do go outside, to test the temperature of the sidewalk or pavement and that it won’t harm the paws.
