The Knoxville Public Library will be holding a poverty in Iowa storytelling event on Thursday, July 11th.

This event will start at 6:30 pm and there will be storytelling and a dialogue with two individuals who have experienced the effects of poverty in Des Moines. They will share their personal experiences and defining moments. This event is provided with support from Humanities Iowa and working with CultureALL, a non-profit with a mission of celebrating diversity and making connections in Iowa communities. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson says this program is a good way to show how poverty affects people even right here in Iowa.

“It’s just a topic that we thought would be of interest to a lot of people. It is a consideration of what poverty does, how it affects people, and the whole community.”

This program is free and open to the public.
