A day away from the holiday pushed the summer teams from Pella High School closer to their postseason journeys, which now start within the week, but before jumping into tournament play, the Dutch are back in regular season action to end the week.
Pella’s #10 in Class 3A baseball team is at home against Ballard while the softball girls are off to face a former head coach at Grand View Christian. On the road, the Dutch will have an intriguing matchup with the Thunder, not only because they will once again face their former leader Krista DeMeulenaere, but because the team recently played Bondurant-Farrar, falling 11-0 on June 25th. The Lady Jays are the first major hurdle Pella will have to clear if they are in Fort Dodge by the final week of the month.
At home, the Dutch baseball team will look to shake off a 13-6 loss to #4 in Class 4A Johnston and try to build toward next week’s opening substate game against Newton. The Bombers and Pella share several common foes, and both are looking for momentum against Class 3A competition. The teams haven’t met since 2021, when Ballard won 4-2, but the Dutch own the all-time series 5-3.
Coverage of Pella-Ballard baseball begins at 7:00 this evening on 92.1 KRLS and Pella Dutch Live.
