Pella Christian athletic director Dan Branderhorst announced Friday morning that Marv Van Wyk has been selected as the new head boys basketball coach for the upcoming season. 

Van Wyk has served as assistant coach for the Eagles boys basketball team for more than three decades, recently celebrating his 30th season with the program in 2023. Marv has been a staple of the Pella Christian program, experiencing 16 State Tournament appearances. Included in those appearances among Iowa’s elite, Van Wyk was a part of the last Eagles team to win the State Championship, which was a 68-63 victory over Council Bluffs St. Albert in 1993.  

Marv takes over the program from recently departed head coach JD Boer, who led Pella Christian to an 18-6 record last season.
