The Knoxville School Board special election to fill a vacancy will be held one week from today and early voting is open.

This special election comes after the resignation of former school board member Susan Swartzendruber. The two candidates for the special election are Dylan Mick and Tony Rider. At the Knoxville School Board meeting held on May 27th, a petition was presented to the board with 478 signatures to request the special election. Those who would like to vote early can do so at the Marion County Courthouse. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia says this will operate like any other election.

“We are here 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday and we will be doing it here at our window until Monday, the day before the election. That Monday is the 15th. Just bring along your ID, and it’s just like any normal election, same process. It won’t take very long. It’s a small ballot, and anyone is welcome to come up.”

Hear from the candidates on upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville programs in the next week.
