The Pella Christian baseball team begins Class 2A Substate 6 play tonight, squaring off with Albia in the quarterfinals in the first game of a doubleheader at Des Moines Christian.

The Eagles and Blue Demons will kick-off the postseason twinbill in Urbandale at 5 pm, with Des Moines Christian and PCM following them at 7 pm, with the winners of the two games meeting in the semifinals on Saturday. To set up tonight’s matchup with Pella Christian, Albia defeated Central Decatur 5-4 on a walk-off single in their first round matchup on Saturday. While this will be their first meeting this year, the Eagles and Blue Demons are no strangers on the baseball diamond. Tonight’s contest between the two schools will be their fifth since 2021, with each team claiming two of the four prior games. Pella Christian has one the last two meetings between the teams, taking last season’s contest 6-5, and claiming the 2022 first round substate game by a score of 10-0.
