Pella Regional Health Center has announced the birth of Leah King, the first baby welcomed into its newly added C-Section operating room within the expanded Family Birthing Center. Born on July 5th at 7:41 am, Leah weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces and was delivered by surgeon Dr. JD Welander, assisted by Dr. Elizabeth Wooster-Pierson, with Dr. Anne Hellbusch.

Leah’s parents, Jordan and Liesel King, expressed their gratitude for the care they’ve received at Pella Regional Health Center. “All of our babies, including Leah, were born at Pella Regional Health Center via C-section,” said Liesel King. “It was wonderful to be able to stay together with the baby during recovery and then simply move a few steps down to our room afterwards. It made the entire experience so much more comfortable.”

The addition of the dedicated C-Section operating room is part of Pella Regional’s goal to providing state-of-the-art obstetric care to the community, according to CEO Bob Kroese.

Funded in part by community donations from the Pella Regional Health Center Foundation, the new operating room is equipped with technology to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
