The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.

The meeting started with the board presenting their annual service awards to county employees who have reached milestones with their tenure. Marion County Conservation Director Steve Edwards was honored for his 44 years and that was followed by an introduction of Cale Edwards as the new Marion County Conservation Director.

There were then three appointments for the Marion County Development Commission, approval of disbursement of funds from the US Department of the Treasury to the local assistance and tribal Consistency Fund, approval of a Veterans District concept plan, and special RAGBRAI event lighting for the Marion County courthouse.

No formal action was taken about a letter sent by the Pella Public Library Board of Trustees related to reduction of services to rural residents. The topic is expected to be brought back to the board later this month, with a request for rural libraries in the county to send usage data to the county for potential funding reconsideration. In the meantime, digital services tor rural residents with Pella Library cards is expected to stop until the issue is resolved. More details will be available Thursday on KNIA/KRLS from both the Board of Supervisors and Pella Library Board of Trustees meetings.
