The City of Indianola Planning and Zoning Commission met Tuesday to discuss the findings of the proposed Urban Chicken Ordinance, and review the survey results from the past month. City of Indianola Communications Director Aaron Young tells KNIA News city staff presented updated preliminary survey data, provided a comprehensive report based on feedback offered from other Iowa cities that established and currently have an ordinance and led continued discussion about the proposed ordinance allowing the keeping of chickens within city limits.

The motion was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission in a 4-3 vote, and will now move to the Indianola City Council for consideration. A public hearing will be held on the ordinance at their meeting on July 29th.
