Jillian French allowed just one base runner and otherwise shut down Danville and helped the Twin Cedars Softball Squad to a 10-0 win over the Bears in the 2nd round of the class 1A regional on Wednesday night as French threw a no hitter. The Sabers helped out French by getting three runs in the 1st inning to take control and French did the rest. The lone Danville runner was a walk in the 3rd inning but that run was stranded. French struck out the side in the 2nd and 4th innings, totaling 14. Offensively the Sabers had eight hits and benefitted from six Danville errors. Ami Mockenhaupt went 2/2 with three RBIs while Kenzyn Roberts was 2/3 on the night. Coach Zack Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports French had all of her pitches working.
Dunkin: “I thought she had one rough hitter the very first batter, but after that it was lights out. She mixed up her pitched even the change up which we used sparingly but she had it all going.”
Twin Cedars is now 14-11 and will host a class 1A regional semi-final on Friday.
