The Knoxville Public Library will be holding a poverty in Iowa storytelling event tonight.
The event will start at 6:30 pm and there will be storytelling and a dialogue with two individuals who have experienced the effects of poverty in Des Moines. They will share their personal experiences and defining moments. This event is provided with support from Humanities Iowa and working with CultureALL, a non-profit organization with a mission of celebrating diversity and making connections in Iowa communities. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson says this program highlights how poverty affects people here in Iowa.
“It’s just a topic that we thought would be of interest to a lot of people. It is a consideration of what poverty does, how it affects people, and the whole community.”
The program is free and open to the public.
