The final regular season game for the No. 9 ranked Pella baseball team turned into back-to-back nights of difficulty scoring runs in a 7-1 loss to Saydel Wednesday. The Dutch nabbed their lone tally in the top of the 4th after the Eagles had scored six runs through three innings. Pella’s defense also had another shaky night just two nights before the postseason begins, tallying four errors. Lake Cowman and Teagan Hoekstra each had two hits, accounting for half of the Dutch offensive output. Pella finishes the regular season at 24-9 and will welcome Newton on Friday for the first round of the 3A substate playoffs. Coverage begins at 6:30 on 92.1 KRLS.
At home, the Pella softball team takes on a winless South Tama team that has given up less than 10 runs in only two of their 30 losses this year. Head Coach Katie Banowetz emphasized the importance of staying focused and ensuring they find their way to Bondurant on Saturday. The 20-11 Dutch will hope to continue a three-game winning streak. Coverage begins at 6:30 this evening on 92.1 KRLS and Pella Dutch Live.
