The Pleasantville softball team defeated the Nodaway Valley Wolverines 10-0 in the Class 2A Region 5 quarterfinals Wednesday night.
The Trojans jumped out to an early lead thanks to a home run by senior Madilyn Rowson. Pleasantville then exploded for five runs in the second inning and three more in the sixth to secure the 10-0 win in six innings. Lainey Kennedy pitched six scoreless innings for the Trojans giving up five hits. For the Pleasantville seniors, this was their last home game as they will go on the road for the remainder of the postseason. Senior Danika Park said this win helps with the team’s confidence.
“I think it’s really good to go out and win with your teammates. I think it’s a good way to propel us into our next game. It was really fun with the energy and the crowd and I think it helped us be where we needed to be.”
The Trojans will now take on Interstate 35 in the regional semifinals on Friday night. Hear more about the win against Nodaway Valley from Park and teammate Madilyn Rowson on Today’s Lely Radio Sports Page.
