After knocking off Albia earlier this week, the Pella Christian baseball team is now set up for a rematch with Class 2A #2 Des Moines Christian in the Substate 6 semifinals on Saturday.
To set up their second matchup this season, the Eagles defeated the Blue Demons 6-0 in the quarterfinal round Tuesday night, before the Lions defeated PCM 11-1 in five innings. Pella Christian and Des Moines Christian previously clashed during the first full week of the regular season early this summer, with the Lions claiming the 10-0 victory on May 24th. In that first meeting, Des Moines Christian jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, then added five more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to give the Eagles just their second loss of the season to that point. The Lions’ victory in May was their first in the series dating back to 2021. Pella Christian won the prior two games between the two schools, claiming 2023’s contest 4-2 and winning 15-2 in 2022.
First pitch of the Eagles’ Class 2A Substate 6 semifinal rematch with the Lions at Des Moines Christian High School is slated for 7 pm on Saturday.
