The class 3A substate starts tonight for area baseball squads and for Knoxville it is a different feel than last season. The Panthers come in as the #6 seed having to travel to Winterset tonight and play a team that soundly defeated them on June 21st 11-3. However, Knoxville is feeling confident about tonight because of winning four of its last five games and in that matchup, the Panthers saw the Huskies #1 and #2 pitchers. Player Luke Roozeboom tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that will be an advantage, he adds Winterset has a lot more than just pitching.

Roozeboom: ” They had a couple of guys that could bunt, and get down to first base pretty fast. If we can watch out for that and adjust accordingly, then we’ll do great on Friday.”

Both teams have similar records with Knoxville at 16-17 and Winterset at 15-13. The winner will get the survivor of the Pella and Newton game on Monday. Listen for the action on 95.3 KNIA starting with the pregame at 6:40.
