The PCM softball team is facing Clarke at home tonight in the Class 3A Region 2 semifinals.

The Mustangs are coming off a 10-2 win over Greene County Thursday night in the regional quarterfinals. PCM will now look to keep a potential state tournament bid alive tonight against the 7-17 Indians. Clarke is coming off a 8-0 win over Des Moines Christian in their quarterfinal matchup. The Mustangs and Indians have only played each other twice in the Bound era with Clarke winning both matchups, one coming in 2016 and the other in 2018. PCM Coach Shaun Hudnut said his team and staff have been preparing to play the unfamiliar opponent.

“We’re not super familiar with Clarke. We’ve done a little bit of scouting, and I’ve been in contact with some coaches that have played with them so I can get a better feel for them. They play in a tough conference so they’ve seen pitching. We have our base scouting report of what we think they are and how we’re going to attack them offensively and defensively.”

Tonight’s contest in Monroe starts at 7:00 pm.
