The Twin Cedars Softball Squad is playing for a trip to the state tournament for the third straight season. Waiting on the other side of the bracket, not surprisingly is Wayne, a team that the Sabers knno all too well. The Falcons have mostly dominated the series during the Bound Era, winning 14 of the 17 games played. However the last Sabers win was during the 2022 State Championship season when Twin Cedars won 3-2. The two played in each other’s season openers and Wayne won 2-0 against a mostly young and inexperienced Sabers club. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his final words to his team before the first pitch is pretty basic, play hard, with maximum effort and have a little fun.
Dunkin: “We’re not asking you and anyone else anymore than what we’ve asked all season, and there’s a reason you’re at the points, so play focused and play hard and that’s all we can ask.”
First pitch from Wayne is at seven, the winner gets a trip to the class one-A State Tournament in Fort Dodge.
