The Pleasantville softball team fell to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in the Class 2A Region 5 finals Monday, as the baseball team will take on Des Moines Christian in a substate championship game tonight.
The Trojan softball team fell to the Rockets to 3-2 as they come just short of a trip to the state tournament. The Pleasantville softball team ends their impressive 2024 season with a 19-15 overall record and will graduate just three seniors. Coach Alee Phillips says he is very proud of her team and the consistent effort they gave all season. Phillips says it wasn’t the ending they wanted , but she wants her team to know how proud her, the school and the community are of them.
The Trojan baseball team will now see if they can punch their ticket to the state tournament when they take on #2 ranked Des Moines Christian Lions in the Class 2A Substate 6 championship game tonight. Pleasantville is coming off an 8-1 win over Interstate 35 in a substate semifinals game on Saturday night while the 31-4 Lions are coming off a 2-0 win over Pella Christian in their game Saturday night. The two teams are familiar foes as they both compete in the West Central Conference and have played each other twice this year already with Des Moines Christian winning both of those games.
Tonight’s Substate final will be played in Carlisle starting at 7:00 pm.
