Two years ago, the Pella baseball team advanced to the state tournament in Grinnell in the 3A substate bracket. While the teams are largely different, the rematch comes back together at the same site with the same stakes this evening at the home of the Tigers.

Pella (26-9 overall, 2nd in the LHC) is ranked 9th in Class 3A, but were the No. 10 team when then-No. 7 Grinnell (Now ranked 10th, 27-11 overall, WaMaC champions) was determined as the top seed in the substate seven bracket, so they will host the matchup. The Tigers and Dutch last played in the playoffs in 2023, with Pella defeating the Tigers in the opening round of the postseason. The former Little Hawkeye Conference rivals have competed against each other 42 times since 2009, with the Dutch winning 24 of those. The two were slated to meet earlier this month, but the game was rained out.

Coverage of substate baseball begins from Grinnell High School at 6:30 this evening on 92.1 KRLS.
