Pleasantville Police Chief and City Manager Joe Mrstik has announced that he will be stepping down from both positions he holds with the city in August.

Mrstik moved to the Pleasantville community 14 years ago, when he was hired to be the city’s Police Chief and City Manager. Joe came to Pleasantville after serving in a larger police department in eastern Iowa, and said that it took some adjustment to get acclimated with working in a smaller department. Mrstik said that the residents of Pleasantville helped him adjust to changes between styles in law enforcement, and that he was grateful for their support.

“The citizens kind of embraced me and made me a better leader, and made me a better person. I really, really appreciated the town, and it’s been a good, good run. And we’ve had great support throughout my 14 years with a community and it’s been an honor to serve them.”
