The City of Monroe is set to hold their annual Old Settlers celebration on Thursday, August 1st through Saturday, August 3rd. 

The theme for this year’s annual event is Christmas in August, and will begin on August 1st with a pitch tournament at the Gathering Place at 6 pm. On August 2nd, activities will begin at 6 pm with night volleyball and a foam party, and will also include the children’s parade, doubles horseshoes, water fights, a demolition derby, live music from the Pork Tornadoes, and more. Festivities will resume on August 3rd with the Methodist Church Pancake breakfast at 6:30 am. Other events scheduled for the morning of August 3rd include the car show, the MAMM Road Race, the tractor show, a three on three basketball tournament and more. Saturday afternoon events will feature the watermelon feed, the pet parade, the flag ceremony, and award presentations. The event will conclude Saturday night with the parade, the parade awards, and the announcing of the raffle and quilt raffle winners.
