A strong start to their first Class 3A State Softball Tournament appearance faded late for PCM Monday night, as they fell in the quarterfinals to defending State Champion Williamsburg 8-3 in a game heard live on the KRLS3 stream at KNIAKRLS.com.

The Raiders got the scoring started in the first inning with a single run, but PCM’s offense made their move in the top of the second. With two outs and Hadley Millang on third base, Ila Keuning’s RBI single pulled PCM back into a 1-1 tie. After Lark Drake reached via an infield single, Addi Steenhoek came through with the Mustangs’ second RBI single of the inning to push PCM in front 2-1. A Williamsburg error off the bat of Tori Lindsay brought home the Mustangs’ third run of the inning, giving them a 3-1 lead entering the middle innings. The Raiders immediately answered back in the third inning with a pair of runs to knot the game back up at 3-3, and after a scoreless fourth frame, scored five runs over the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for the win.

PCM starting pitcher Rylee Parsons allowed just one earned run on four hits over three innings of work, while Camden Webb suffered the loss in relief after giving up five runs on five hits in the final three innings. The Mustangs lone two upperclassmen Lark Drake and Addi Steenhoek led the offense on the night, each going 2-for-4 at the plate.

PCM wraps up the summer with a consolation game against Sumner-Fredericksburg this afternoon at 2:30 pm. Coverage of the Mustangs’ consolation game against the Cougars can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS beginning at 2:15 pm.
