RAGBRAI will be rolling into Knoxville tomorrow for an overnight stay.

The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa will be leaving Winterset early Wednesday morning and will make the 75 mile trek over to Knoxville. City officials believe that most riders will be getting into town in the afternoon Wednesday, but some could arrive as early as Noon. The downtown Knoxville area will be closed off from traffic, as that is where all vendors will be located and the entertainment will take place. The only entertainment that will not be in the downtown area will be Mason Hatch from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm and Neva Alden from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm, as they will perform at Peace Tree while Hairball does their sound check.

There will be eight campgrounds in Knoxville for the event, with the main campground located just north of the Knoxville Rec Center. There will be shuttle services that will take people from the camping locations to the downtown area. The evening entertainment that will take place downtown will consist of Lucas Bebee from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm, The Punching Pandas from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm and the headliner will be Hairball taking the stage at 9:00 pm. There will be a main beverage garden area located in the downtown area for those wanting to purchase adult drinks. Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch said he is thankful for all the volunteers who have signed up to make this possible.

“This one really would not have happened without the volunteers. It’s overwhelming the amount of hours, time, and effort that these volunteers have put in to make this happen. We can’t thank them enough.”
