Denny McDonnell joined the Simpson men’s basketball program as an assistant coach in July 2024. McDonnell brings with him over 20 years of coaching experience, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the court.

McDonnell’s extensive coaching career includes serving as the boy’s assistant coach at North High School in Des Moines and the girls’ basketball coach at Valley High School in West Des Moines. He is also the founder of the 4VLegacy development basketball program in Central Iowa, a program dedicated to offering private instructional basketball skill development for young athletes aged 8-18. McDonnell will continue to manage this venture alongside his role at Simpson.
