When the Twin Cedars Softball season ended last week in the class 1A regional final, the coaching career of Zack Dunkin ended as well. Before the season he informed Twin Cedars and the team that 2024 would be his last. Much went into the decision to step down now including wanting to spend more time with family and other factors. Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, it will be different next summer when he is not getting the field ready for a game.
Dunkin: “Some family changes are happening with grandkids. It doesn’t make it anymore easy, and it’ll be different not getting the field ready and organizing practices but I’m looking forward to having some more time.”
Dunkin ended his career with a 236-146 record, and the 2022 class 1A State Championship. Twin Cedars will announce later who will be Dunkin’s replacement. Listen for a feature on Dunkin during a future Today’s Lely Radio Sports Page on KNIA/KRLS.
