A Pella Christian girls tennis alum is among the thousands of bicycle riders taking part in the 51st annual RAGBRAI this week.

Katy Roose, who was a State Doubles Tournament runner-up her senior year with the Eagles girls tennis program, is participating in the week-long bike ride across the state for the second time. Katy said that her dad, Scott, began riding in RAGBRAI for the full-week roughly five years ago, and invited her to join him for a handful of days the first three years he participated. Last year, Roose completed the full seven day trek across Iowa for the first time and she set to complete her second trip across the state on Saturday in Burlington. Katy said that while the 434 mile trip across Iowa sounds intimidating, it’s a rewarding experience that she enjoys getting to participate in with her dad.

“It’s such an accomplishment once you’re done with it and it’s a super fun experience. You have some awesome people supporting you and I get to do as my dad, which is awesome being together. It’s super fun and it’s a good way to stay active in the summers and visit these different towns in Iowa.”
