Several Central College graduates, faculty and staff members are contributing to the production of “The Hobbit” August 1st-4th at The George Daily Auditorium in Oskaloosa. 

Based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien and adapted by playwright Kim Selody, the production will be performed as part of the George Daily Youth Theatre’s 25-year anniversary celebration. Among the Central graduates, faculty and staff contributing to the production are: 

  • Former Central voice instructor Allison McGuire: director
  • 2010 graduate Andy McGuire: director 
  • 2020 graduate Ryan Jones: lighting designer 
  • Mental health counselor Anne McCullough Kelly: performance, costume design and construction
  • Professor of art Mat Kelly: set painting 
  • Technical director of theatre and lecturer Ron Rybkowski: set designer, construction and technical consultant 
  • Assistant professor of theatre Kate Kanne Smith: costume design and construction 

The George Daily production of “The Hobbit” is family-friendly and features puppetry and combat choreography. The George Daily Auditorium will present “The Hobbit” at 7 pm August 1st-3rd and at 2 pm on August 4th. Find a link to purchase tickets for the production here.
