PCM softball coach Shaun Hudnut is the Iowa Girls Coaches Association 3A Central Region coach of the year. 

Hudnut led the Mustangs to a 25-5 season in 2024 and a trip to the Iowa State Softball Tournament. Hudnut took over as softball coach in 2019 and he also took the PCM baseball team to the state tournament in 2010. Hudnut has done an impressive job with the PCM softball program he has built as the Mustangs had only one senior on their roster this year. 

The Mustangs fell to Williamsburg in the opening round of the state tournament, but defeated Sumner-Fredericksburg in the consolation bracket.
