Dylan Mick was sworn in to serve on the Knoxville School Board Monday night.

Mick won  the school board special election that was held July 16th, filling the vacant spot on the board. The special election was held after a petition was presented to the board after the resignation of former board member Susan Swartzendruber in May. An attempt was made to appoint Mick to the school board after the resignation, but a lack of support on the motion forced the special election. Mick ran against  Tony Rider for the vacant school board seat, and won  the election 660 votes to 422. Mick said that he is excited to serve the district and make a difference.

“Getting to join right at the time we’re ramping up to start a new school year is really exciting and should be a really fun time. You refer to it as work, but if you enjoy doing it and you’re excited about it, it’s hard to feel like it will be hard work. I’m very excited for the opportunity and to get started.”
