Multiple warnings (now expired) impacted to region on 7/31/2024

Yet another round of severe weather impacted most of south central Iowa as a long-tracking wind event pushed through the region Wednesday evening. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on from 8 to 9:15 p.m. for the last round of what had been more than a dozen warnings dating back to Tuesday morning locally. Much lighter rain was associated with the evening storm, which helped minimize the impact of 6-8″ of widespread precipitation that had fallen since overnight Sunday in most communities.

The fortunes of the forecast look to change in the coming days as much drier conditions return to the region, with daytime highs in the mid-to-upper 80s through Friday, and then a bit of a warm-up to near 90 by the weekend, before another possible cool down next week.
