Counting down the top 10 moments of the 2023-24 school year for Indianola High School with #6.
Indianola senior Gracie Foster broke the school record at the 2023 State Cross Country meet with a 7th place finish, earning an All-State designation and leading the Indians to their best finish at the class 4A state meet in years.
Foster ran an 18.71.1 as the Indians as a team finished in 11th place. Foster said after the race the weather was unfavorable for everyone, but she wanted to focus on staying with the top runners in the state.
“It was more about thinking about the people and competition. You can go to any cross country course and you don’t know what the course is or what the weather is like, you are just out there and out there to beat people and to catch people. So today was all about looking at the girl in front of me and focusing on the people and the place.”
Foster graduated having qualified to the state meet all four times in her high school career.
