The Pella City Council will consider three bids for renovations to the Tulip Toren at their meeting Tuesday. Three different contractors have submitted for the project estimated to cost $355,000. Assuming a contract is approved, the updates include repairs to a beam in the basement, removal and replacement of concrete slabs at the base of each tower, removal and replacement of joint sealant, cleaning and sealing each tower, rust removal and painting of the bridge between the towers, removal of plantings around the base of the tower, replacing plantings with concrete to aid in water run off away from the base of the towers, repainting doors, and painting stage surface areas. The timeline for the project is from mid-August to near Thanksgiving. The Pella City Council meeting begins at 6:00 Tuesday evening in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
