Claiming the number five spot for PCM top sports stories of the 2023-2024 school year is the football team shutting out Mid-Prairie in the second round of the Class 2A Playoffs.

In a game on October 27th at home the Mustangs defeated the Golden Hawks 36-0 to earn a trip to the state quarterfinals. The first quarter was a defensive battle, and stayed knotted at 0-0 after the Mustangs were able to keep Mid-Prairie out of the end zone after an interception by Griffin Olson. In the second quarter, the PCM offense came alive with a 50 yard touchdown run by Adrien Robbins to start the scoring, and the Mustangs never took their foot off the gas pedal after that. Senior wide receiver Griffin Olson reeled in two more touchdown passes in the game, and had six scores over two games.

PCM quarterback Gavin Van Gorp had two rushing touchdowns to cap off the scoring for the Mustangs. The PCM defense pitched their second consecutive shutout of the season, and were able to contain the explosive passing and rushing attack of Mid-Prairie. The Mustangs fell to Van Meter 31-21 in the state quarterfinals at home the following week.
