The Marion County Road Department has provided an update on the reconstruction of the Flagler Bridge at County Road T15.
Marion County Engineer Tyler Christian says that the project, which experienced some delays due to coordination with the railroad, is still behind schedule. Christian says that progress on the bridge was being made, but significant rainfall has further delayed the project.
“The road has to be raised up three and a half feet on one side, so there’s quite a bit of dirt work to do. So, you can imagine there’s not much dirt work happening when you get eight plus inches of rain in a week. So, that project is on hold and I would say it will probably be a couple weeks, because that contractor has now been delayed on the other projects he’s on. So, we’re probably a couple weeks from starting dirt work and unfortunately, that’s the only thing we’re waiting on at this point.”
