Counting down the top 10 moments of the 2023-24 school year for Indianola High School with #3.
The Indianola boys wrestling team had a stellar season that included a win in the Battle of Waterloo, multiple top rankings individually, and a run to the State Dual Tournament that ended in a fourth place finish. The Indians qualified to the state dual meet earning the #2 overall seed, and dominated with a opening round 45-11 victory over Dubuque Hempstead. The Indians were denied a spot in the finals however, suffering a one-point loss to rival Bettendorf 31-30, then were unable to snag third place after they suffered another one-point loss to Fort Dodge 30-29.
Head coach Clint Manny said after the tournament he appreciated the seniors work in leading the team to collective success.
“I can’t say enough about our seniors. That’s probably a cliche thing that every coach says about their team this time of year, but our guys are different. They are different than any other group I’ve coached before, they are loyal, hard working, yes-sir, no-sir type of kids. And not because we have drilled that into them, but just how they were brought up and the support and love they have for each other.”
The Indians went on to qualify a wrestler in every weight class to the State Individual Meet.
