The Knoxville Police Department reminds citizens and those coming to the area during the Knoxville Nationals that golf carts are not to be driven on sidewalks.
The 410 Nos Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals start today, and brings with it an influx of thousands of people into the community. Golf carts also can only be driven sun up to sun down and are not allowed to travel along Highway 14. Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller says it’s important to keep these regulations in mind if you’re going to drive a golf cart in city limits, and to understand registration requirements.
“Golf carts however have to be registered to be operated in the city limits of Knoxville on Knoxville city streets, they have to be registered at the police department. They can’t drive after dark and they can’t drive up and down Highway 14. They can’t be driven on sidewalks and you have to be 42 inches or taller to ride in those. That is an ordinance change we had a couple years ago from a safety concern viewpoint.”
Fuller also reminds everyone to never operate a golf cart after you have been consuming alcohol.
