Claiming the number three spot for Pleasantville top sports stories of the 2023-2024 school year is the boys basketball team upsetting #1 ranked Des Moines Christian on the road for their first win over the Lions in school history.

In a game on December 15th, the Trojans knocked off the top ranked Lions in commanding fashion 74-68. Des Moines Christian came into the contest ranked as the top ranked team in Class 2A according to BCmoore, and the Trojans were able to pick up the massive conference road win and a memorable upset. All five of Pleasantville’s starters ended up in double figures for scoring with freshman Braylon Bingham recording 23 points and Dayson Lerrhoff with 19. The Trojans upset was the highest ever recorded on the BCMoore power ranking site by nearly 15 points based on expected results, coming from 22 years of ranking data provided. 

The Trojans fell just short of a trip to the state tournament in their 2023-2024 season by falling to South Hamilton in the district finals.
