From RAGBRAI’s overnight stop to this week’s Nationals, Knoxville is experiencing their busiest summer in a decade.
Tonight is championship night for the 410 Knoxville Nationals, which is the busiest day in the calendar year annually for the Sprint Car Capital of the World, but the weeks leading up to tonight have been just as busy. Knoxville hosted an overnight stop for RAGBRAI on July 24th, which brought in more than 15,000 people to the community, and then starting on Thursday, August 1st they already started seeing an influx of people for the 360 Knoxville Nationals. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says she is thankful for the community for making this happen every year.
“Reflecting on RAGBRAI it is something that would not have been done without the volunteers as well as Nationals. The community comes together in a big way to ensure we are hosting and highlighting our community in the way we want to which is in a positive light. It’s great to see all these visitors come in, but it wouldn’t be done and go so smoothly without those. We really appreciate the residents for opening their doors for anyone staying with them and highlighting our community and just being good hosts for these events.”
Tonight’s 410 Championship Night will start with hot laps at 7:00 and racing will begin at 8:00. Catch all of the action on 95.3 KNIA.
